    Maxime VIDAL

    Maxime VIDAL has been evolving in the XR world for over five years. By the end of 2019, he was creating augmented reality experiences to enable students to visualize organs or engineering parts dynamically, carrying the message that play promotes memorization. His various projects quickly made him stand out, and in 2022 he became a partner in the SnapAR program, dedicated to the innovative uses of augmented reality in culture, art, society and training, and enthusiastically led sessions in the AR Education Program, powered by Snapchat. Alongside his commitment to technological innovation, Maxime VIDAL teaches experience creation through seminars. Today, he shares his expertise with over 4,000 students at more than 35 higher education establishments across France, ranging from engineering and computer engineering schools to business and design institutions. Thanks to his project-based learning approach, he is introducing a new generation to the many potentialities offered by augmented reality. Today, he is developing some of the most advanced augmented reality glasses on the market, the Spectacles developed by Snap (reserved for developers and teachers), and in 2025 he intends to continue evangelizing these subjects with determination to over 700 students. His career is a perfect illustration of how passion, innovation and the transmission of knowledge can transform the technological and educational landscape.

    In his role, Martial utilizes a diverse skill set in Human Spaceflight Engineering and Human Factors, cultivated through years of experience at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC). Beginning with contributions to projects like METERON, he has evolved to manage pivotal industrial endeavors such as the Sun Simulator work package for the LUNA project, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards like ECSS. His proficiency in Canadarm2 operation and virtual reality technologies has led to collaborative efforts with key partners like the NASA Flight Operations Directorate and the EHO, resulting in the creation of innovative tools like the JIVE training tool. This success has propelled the growth of the XR Lab, where he oversees numerous R&D projects, refining his expertise in technical trade-offs and shaping human-machine interfaces. Additionally, his involvement in spacecraft design projects and contributions to the ESA Young Professional Satellite project have further enriched his understanding of space hardware constraints and launch processes.

    Andres BURBANO

    Andres Burbano (Colombia, 1972) is a media artist and academic, currently Associate Professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. Burbano holds a PhD in Media Arts and Technology from the University of California Santa Barbara and is a visiting professor at the Danube University in Krems, Austria. Burbano explores the interactions between science, art and technology in various capacities: as a researcher, as an individual artist and in collaboration with other artists and designers. Burbano’s work ranges from documentary video (both science and art), sound art and telecommunications to the exploration of algorithmic cinematic narratives. Burbano was appointed chair of the SIGGRAPH 2024 conference and is the author of the book Different Engines: Media Technologies from Latin America, Routledge 2023.
