Developed by the HD Audio 3D consortium (Feichter Electronics – Université de Bretagne Occidentale – Noise Makers), the M480 is a microphone incorporating 480 MEMS capsules. It enables the capture of 360-degree sound scenes with high spatial accuracy. A plugin accompanies the microphone to convert the captured scene into 7th-order ambisonics format, and to render audio both over headphones (binaural) and on loudspeaker systems (9.1.6). Additional plugins complete the solution by enabling 360-degree acoustic energy visualization and spatial focusing within a specific region (beamforming). Together, they provide a comprehensive solution for capturing and processing sound scenes with high spatial precision.
