META INSTRUMENT 4

The Méta-Instrument 4 is the latest generation of computer-assisted musical instrument designed by PUCE MUSE. Developed by PUCE MUSE in collaboration with Catherine Hospitel, Dominique Brégeard and Jérémie Gaston-Raoul, the Méta-Instrument 4 is made entirely by 3D printer !slideshow_deploy! The result of 5 years' development, the Méta-Instrument 4 contains 92 high-precision sensors and 13 dedicated processors. In particular, ten on-board Meta-Touches measure finger pressure and playing speed with great sensitivity: 3,000 times per second over 80 pressure zones. The MI4 is a new generation of digital instrument that is entirely modular and customisable, enabling an unprecedented level of virtuosity.

Méta-Instrument 4 was developed with the support of BPI France; the Méta-Touch and Méta-Digit modules that make up Méta-Instrument were developed with the support of the Ministry of Culture as part of the 2017 Innovative Digital Service call for projects.
