The Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Group at the University of Hamburg is a premier research lab dedicated to advancing eXtended Reality (XR). Led by Prof. Dr. Frank Steinicke, the group is recognized globally for its expertise in developing innovative immersive solutions. By exploring the intersection of spatial computing, 3D interfaces, and perceptual engineering, the HCI Group shapes the future of human-computer interaction to build seamless, realistic digital realities.
Anthropomorphic AI is a flexible, open-source toolkit for building expressive, multimodal Intelligent Virtual Agents in XR. Our modular SDK integrates foundation models for low-latency interactions featuring speech, vision, and gestures. We offer solutions for generating interactive fictional characters, high-fidelity virtual twins, complex multi-agent AI debates, and seamless VR co-presence—democratizing the creation of next-generation virtual beings.
