Barbara Schiavi is a passionate researcher and development engineer, specializing in the integration of augmented reality technologies in various fields on an international scale. His enthusiasm for virtual and augmented reality began in 2014. She began her career creating and developing VR applications for healthcare at the Université de Montréal’s Faubert Lab and the USC Institute for Creative Technologies’ MedVR Lab. His innovative work continued in the video game industry at Big Red Button Entertainment. At VINCI Construction, Barbara continues to explore the potential of the technology. While preparing an industrial PhD in collaboration with the CESI LINEACT Lab, she contributed to the field through her research on VR training for operating procedures on construction sites. She proposed the development of BIM data flow architectures for VR integration with scenario creation and QHSE (quality, health, safety and environment) knowledge usability. Barbara has published several articles on these topics and has been cited in academic circles, particularly for her examination of BIM data flow architecture with XR technologies: Use cases in AEC. In addition to her current role, Barbara is a member of the Advisory Board of the European Association for Extended Reality (EuroXR), where she supports the XR community and contributes her expertise to the advancement of XR technologies. Barbara Schiavi’s contributions help to push back the boundaries of what’s possible with XR technologies, making them more integrated, more efficient and more widely applicable in a variety of sectors.
