Automated certification framework for virtual reality healthcare training simulation.
Virtual reality environments are seen as an excellent potential medium for clinical education. However, one of the main pillars of educational activities is to assess the level of knowledge and skills of learners, in order to certify this level. This assessment and certification capacity is uncharted territory, especially in medical device education. These bottlenecks lead to a cliff effect in the use of VR in clinical training due to the “evidence” base required by the clinical field. To overcome this problem, we propose to develop a performance index based on biofeedback and scientifically evaluate its ability to achieve certification, which would unlock the market for initial and continuing education for VR solutions in clinical settings by convincing clinical clients of the relevance of the proposed solution on the basis of “evidence”. This performance index will be developed for two VR technologies: Immersive Video and Immersive World.
